Catholic Charities again gutting houses

NEW ORLEANS - Catholic Charities is again organizing volunteers to gut houses flooded by hurricanes.

It says it began signing up homeowners on Tuesday in the Lafitte, Barataria and Crown Point areas and will begin gutting houses on Friday.

The organization says field supervisors and outreach workers were inspecting houses today.

Catholic Charities says volunteers with Operation Helping Hands gutted nearly 2,000 homes and apartments after Hurricane Katrina.

Residents can sign up for free house gutting at Jean Lafitte Town Hall at the Operation Helping Hands desk or call (504) 895-5439 and leave a message.
